There is something about these little old Volvos that does it for me. I don’t know why, but I just like the lines. They are cool, but small, and I’ve always wanted to build one into something kick ass. I always thought that would be a street strip style car, but the more I look at this 1968 Volvo 122S the more I think it would make a fun little Pro Touring machine. Focus on Autocross more than road racing, although I’m sure you could build it to do both. I’d move the driver way back in the thing so that the engine could be set back under the cowl, and I’d throw some saucy suspension under it and just enough wheel and tire to make it work. I might flare it. I might not. It depends.
Truthfully, there are about 20 different variations on this thing rolling around in my head at any minute.
What would you do with it?

We got this car from the family of the original owner, and it was after some long researches to find the good one. This car was always driven and maintained for its whole life until 2015 when the owner passed away.
It is an all original and of course very dry South California car with its original black plates, Body is unmolested except for a light repaint, original wheels and hubcaps, all windows, chrome, trims, lights…it is totally complete minus the trunk handle logo and…the carpet…the interior is, as shown in the pictures, cooked, we cleaned the interior to treat the floors, rust and the few rust holes… but the whole upholstery needs attention. Carpet is gone. all trim inside and outside are present… A very good car. Tires are like new and holding air perfectly.
Engine is running, no leaks, as for the brakes and the clutch. A few drops from the differential at the rear. The last time the car was registered is 2015 and is actually in non operationnal status with a clean title under my name. no hassles here.
A rare complete example with no flat black and red wheels here and a beautifuly designed car, super reliable and bulletproof 1.8liter four cylinders with two SU carburetors directly unherited from the P1800 coupe.

Asking $3900 or best offer, not in a hurry to sale, will consider trade for pre war era car/project with original or flathead powertrain. Thanks for looking. I will be glad to send you more pictures if needed.
Call me weird but I like these cars! Similar style to a VW Squareback. It would be one killer X275 car!
Put in a T5 motor with some sort of six speed behind it. Yes, I’m aware that T5s were front wheel drive cars and this might take some sort of adapter that isn’t available off the shelf.
There is a red one, 350/350 combo that looks stock (American Mags) that shows up occasionally at car shows in the bay area that is really sweet ride.
Yeah, I’m guilty of the what if on these too
If you really want to get the juices flowing, google “Bo Zolland Volvo” …and you Bangshift guys already know about the Pro Touring 122, you did an article about it:

I don’t think the T5 was front wheel drive especially in the mad station wagon.
Anything’s better than the usual lunkhead “stick a Chevy in it” brigade….
Love these cars–almost bought a red one two years ago…

Restore it back to near original, keeping those wheels and hubcaps.
Then airbag it and throw in a 2JZ.
Just sayin…
