This 1966 Pontiac Lemans Is A Steal And Ready For Pro Touring Excellence!

This 1966 Pontiac Lemans Is A Steal And Ready For Pro Touring Excellence!

We wouldn’t even make it into a GTO like most people, we’d just leave it clean and simple and make stupid power with the Poncho and a supercharger or turbo, and then back it up with great suspension to prove that a Chevelle isn’t the only A-Body worth turning corners in. This car isn’t a restored car, it’s original, but in really really nice shape for the money.

We’d slam a Ridetech Street Challenge setup on it, front and rear, with Coil-Overs and get some gear and a posi unit in the rear axle. An American Powertrain Tremec 6-Speed Kit would be on order, before January 10th so we could take advantage of the #baconshift sale, and we’d grab a Vintage Air System for it too. Some new upholstery from the guys at TMI would make it look great and hold us firmly in the seat thanks to all their added bolstering, without costing us a fortune since it’s a DIY project. We like the style of the wheels on this thing, but the sizes aren’t where we would go.

I’d call Steve and Dave at Forgeline to get some of their design insight and then thrown the widest set of 18’s I could stuff under the fenders and quarters. Falken tires would be our sticky of choice.

Okay, we need to stop. This is depressing. We can’t afford to do this because we have too many other projects going right now. But someone out there should! It’s a great car and it’s begging to become even better.

Here is what the seller has to say.

1966 LeMans
Green with gold metallic flake
Original car all around. This car has not been restored. It’s really a driver and not to worry about getting in and driving anytime you like. Groceries, car shows, cruises. This car gets tons of looks and thumbs up.

Paint: 6 of 10. Cons: It was not done professionally. Pros: Solid car, no rust, no repairs, jams and all points were painted, if you want a 10 it won’t take much. For me it looks good and is great for a driver.

Wheels: Boss 20’s and 18’s. pass rear has slight curbing. It’s a driver. New tires.

Engine: 455? Strong running. 375HP. Sounds good, runs good. Get in and drive. Modern fully adjustable summit carb, hooker super comp headers, electric water pump, fan, HEI ignition.

Transmission: Turbo 400. Shifts strong. Currently has aftermarket B&M shifter. Car comes with original console, shifter, seat belts.

Suspension: Front end, new tie rods, new ball joints, bushings. Fully rebuilt. Comes with extra rear with posi to swap over. Needs alignment after wheels were installed.

Interior: All gauges work, speedo, gas, etc. Dome light works. Head liner, seats everything is originally and worn. Not restored. Tear in driver seat. Don’t expect restored or prefect. This is an original 40 yr old car.

Perfect candidate for a pro touring car. Make it a GTO resto mod or?

I’m asking a fair price but this is OBO. Feel free to make an offer but don’t waste my time.
