This 1968 Mustang Is Pro Touring Cool, With A Nod Toward California Special Greatness

According to the seller this car is a real J-code 1968 Mustang, but it doesn’t say whether it really came as a California Special or not. We like California Specials, and my favorite body style Mustang is the 1967 and 1968 model years. I prefer a fast back, but this clean notch is a really cool car. It has a 440 horsepower 331 stroker small block under the hood, backed by a built T5, and it’s got a lot of tire and purpose built suspension underneath. At the same time, this sucker still retains the leaf springs, and the owner says it will hang with any 4-link, independent, or otherwise Mustang out there. I love it.

Every part listed for the engine is top notch, as is the rest of the car, and while it may not be a perfect show car it’s really clean and the owner says that mechanically it is perfect. Get in it and drive it cross country, and race it everywhere you can.

Now to my favorite part, the wheels
1 of 3 mustangs I know of running FR500’s
1 of 1 mustangs with 315’s in the rear and 275’s in the front
Rears are 17×10.5 with 315/35r17 and the fronts are 17×8.5 with 275/40r17

This mustang has been my baby for the last 4 years. This thing pulls hard past brand new 5.0’s all day long, as well as on the Autocross course. I’m sure I’m forgetting a ton of details, because I’ve done too much to this car. Serious inquires only, car is not 100% cosmetically, but is 100% mechanically. A true California car, been in California all its life.

35k or trade for a 67/68 fastback.

Drooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool – but only after its been painted black as a staunch Johnny Cash fan I have a serious aversion to anything that is white. This would come to £35k including shipping but then it would have to have a Jim Sheppard Mustangs IRS conversion which unfortunately is way to rich for me!

Seen lots of Mustangs at vintage events that haul ass with leaf springs and the Shelby mod for the front. As cool as all of the bolt on k members and ifs kits are the lap times for some of these mods don’t seem to justify the $$. That’s what makes this car cool.

Cool car,68 coupes are cool,I have one myself set up pretty much the same way but with an FE.
confuses the heck out of the local long time auto crossers here.
