Let’s face it, AMC was never known for sexy muscle cars. And before you get all fired up and start yelling at your screen, I know that the AMX was a pretty sexy and cool little machine. But it is the outlier. Other than the AMX and the Javelin, most AMC muscle cars were fairly sedate looking without their out there graphics. Most of the visual impact that AMC brought to the table was in the form of those graphic packages that included cool names like The Rebel, etc.
So who in AMC decided that they needed to build a sports car that would compete with Pantera, Ferrari, Etc? In 1970 this thing was one sexy machine, and with an Italian designed chassis and suspension it was probably pretty impressive. Unfortunately only a half dozen were ever made.
Check out the video below for more info. The AMX 3 was rad!
Video Description:
This unlikely supercar forged right here in America was one of the greatest supercars of the era, yet its tragic story has made it the greatest American supercar you have ever heard of.
