When Chevrolet came out with the Impala SS in the mid 1990s, it was a big hit. In a time when there weren’t many full size muscle car offerings, this thing made a splash. Based on the 9C1 police package Caprice, this car was a lot more capable than folks realized until the testing started and the reviews were coming in. My 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Wagon is on a 9C1 Caprice cop car chassis, so I know how they perform and they are pretty damn good.
The popularity of these cars went through the roof when they were unveiled, and they still remain ultra popular today. Nearly 70,000 of these bad boys were produced between 1994 and 1996, with the 1996 model year accounting for almost 42,000 of the total production. These cars are iconic and cool and the fact that a car guy like Gabriel Iglesias has one is no surprise. And the fact that it is this nice is also no shock since his collection is well known for being amazing.
