The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational is officially starting this afternoon in Las Vegas when all the competitors fire up their cars and pull them out of the 2015 SEMA Show and onto the streets of Las Vegas. It’s the first time most will have been in the driver’s seat of their cars since Monday, and they are itching to hear the horsepower. It will be a tease however, because the first official timed runs will be starting on Saturday morning with both the Speed Stop and Autocross. Veteran competitors know that Saturday’s timed events can shape the outcome very easily, so everyone needs to be on their game if they don’t want to get left by the pack.
A new competitor to the series is Cody Mason who will be driving Ken Thwaits Showtime Motorsports Z28 this weekend and Cody is a certifiable bad ass and is still a college student. It’s amazing how fast he is in this car, and it is going to be fun watching him mix it up with all the “veterans” that you are used to hearing about.
