When Danny Popp’s advice for folks is to “be patient and wait for it”, you know you are talking about a pretty technical autocross, and that is exactly what he said about the course in Charlotte. When you watch this ride along video you will think to yourself “this doesn’t seem difficult”, and you are right. It was an easy course to navigate, and fun to boot, but being quick around it was another thing. With temps at almost 100 degrees the asphalt was hot hot hot and that meant folks were having a hard time getting that one magic lap under their belt. When the heavy hitters told me that they though they would be running 27-28 second laps after walking the course, and then were only running in the 30-31 second range by lunch, I knew there were some tough conditions out there.
Patients was a virtue on this one, and would reward you with the ability to put down power without killing cones.
