Braver Than Most: The Many Faces Of The One-Time Rally Passenger

Braver Than Most: The Many Faces Of The One-Time Rally Passenger

Be honest with yourself for one moment: if, by sheer luck, you got an invite to ride in the empty seat next to Sébastian Ogier on a rally stage in his WRC race car, would you honestly have the stones to hop into the passenger seat and hang on for what will undoubtedly be the wildest ride of your life? Would you look at the opportunity as a fun alternative to a badass roller coaster or would you be so concerned about driver skill and the visuals of trees rushing up to the side of the car that you’d be in sheer terror? It’s ok to say you might have a second thought or two…look at how many rally crash videos we’ve run over the years here at BangShift. We get the apprehension.

That’s why we aren’t going to make any kind of joke about the woman who made the call to strap on a helmet and hop in for a brisk drive through the woods. Her face tells the story, a 50/50 tale that flips between amazement and adrenaline and unquestionable fear. With Franz Wittmann at the wheel of the Peugeot, she’s in the safe hands of a second-generation rally driver, but that doesn’t seem like such a comforting fact when he’s powersliding and flinging the car’s weight around like a toy. Kudos to her for hopping in, though!
