Goodwood’s 73rd Members Meeting had plenty of racing for all of the attendees, and while there were incidents (including the unfortunate one between the Lister-Jaguar and the Mercedes), there was spectacular runs that brought back memories and let old race cars scream in glory. Each race had it’s own cup, and for touring cars it’s the Gerry Marshall Cup, named after a legendary touring car driver known for sideways antics in TVRs and Lotuses. Chris Harris was on hand, piloting a Rover SD1 with friend Chris Ward. The Rover sounds stout with it’s 3.5L V8 cranked up nicely, but there was plenty of competition in the field, from Triumph Dolomite Sprints and Minis set on ‘kill’ to Ford Capris and two wicked sounding second-gen Camaros. There was also the issue of the drivers that they would face, which brought together touring car drivers from past and present, including Top Gear and Fifth Gear presenter Tiff Needell in another Rover. The racing is tight and fast, surprisingly so for a historical society race. Needell’s pit maneuver of the rubber-nosed Camaro may have been an accident…maybe. Harris only says enough, and lets the racing do the talking for the most part, and the camera work is spot-on. How does he do? Click play below, crank up your speakers, and see for yourself!
Nice nice nice find Bryan!!!!!!!!
Chris Harris is one lucky SOB! He gets to wheel some real bad ass cars, and he is so damn smooth. Hell I’d let him drive my Model T but that would be to slow for him.
Great post and nice blog. Thank’s brother
