Home movies are just awesome. It’s odd to say, but I’m young enough that having home movies isn’t that big of a deal to me…in fact, as I’m typing this, I’m in the middle of converting a couple of old VHS tapes I thought were lost to history into DVDs now, so I can convert those into digital media. Certain things are always good to record…good times with friends, childhood memories that your brain might want to gloss over that the camera will never lie about, et cetera. Home movies capture memories that no television camera ever will, in raw form…there’s no real production, no real work. It’s literally someone with a camera capturing the moments as they happen.

While plodding through YouTube searches, I came across this bit of footage from the 1970s. The driver is David Carpenter and the car is David’s 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1. The Mach has been prepared for Pro Solo II level racing and you’ll see it in action with the likes of a mid-1960s Shelby GT350, an early C3 Stingray and Porsches. This wasn’t some Legends racer or anything like that in this footage, either…this was just a used Mustang putting in work out on the track. That’s probably the coolest part of the whole film!
