When Formula One announced that they would be doing qualifying in a completely different new way, the reactions were all over the place from racers, teams, sponsors, and fans. I have to say, I was excited about the prospect of racing for qualifying spots, because it is sort of like heat races in circle track racing. Plus, it gets rid of the stuffy feeling of the standard qualifying process that has been in place for years. With rare exception, there just wasn’t that much excitement there most of the time. But the Spring format has the possibility of a lot of great excitement and drama and that is what people want to see.
What’s cool about these two videos is that one is the highlights from the Sprint qualifying race and the other is the reactions from the drivers themselves to the first Sprint race and to the new format in general. What do you think they all said after the race? Do they love it? Hate it? A little bit of both?
Unfortunately, F1 doesn’t allow us to share their YouTube videos right here on BANGshift, so you’ll have to click the links below in order to watch them.

I liked the spring race qualifying personally. F1 is amazing, the technology is mind blowing. Wasn’t real pleased with the result of today’s race, or at least how it happened anyway. Nothing against Hamilton but he flat out took Verstappen out on the first lap because it’s the only way he could beat him is to wreck him. The 10 second penalty was a joke.
