“And now for something completely different”.

Here for your Friday morning viewing pleasure is another great video from Petrolicious. If you’re not yet subscribed to their youTube channel, do yourself a favor and do so, as they regularly produce some of the most interesting and diverse automotive video content out there. You can find a direct link to their youTube channel HERE.

Brian Bent’s 1927 Oakland Racer may not be your typical fire-breathing drag car that we often write about, but I love old-school stuff and this is about as old-school as you can get without access to a time machine.

Admittedly, I am not Brian “Walking Encyclopedia of Obscure Car Knowledge” Lohnes, so I had to do a bit of homework on the Oakland Motor Car Company: Turns out that Oakland was founded in 1907 and sold to General Motors in 1909, of which it remained a division of GM until 1931, when it was usurped by its lower price point companion make, Pontiac.

There’s so many little touches that I’m really digging about this car, including the wooden spoked wheels, what looks to be a vintage glass milk bottle for a catch can, and the relatively modern gauges mounted to a wooden panel in the middle of the dash. Oh, there’s also the fact that Bent feels compelled to wear period-correct garb as well while driving it; I’m still undecided if this is unbelievably cool or a sign of madness, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Regardless of Bent’s personal styling decisions, the footage of him piloting a nearly 100 year old car at highway speeds through Southern California is way cool and 100% BangShift approved.
