For a brand-new race course, NCM Motorsports Complex has been having a very busy year, and there are no signs of a slowdown anytime in the near future. The complex, which is situated next to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, was awarded the “Outstanding Facility of the Year” award by the Race Track Business Conference. According to Tim Frost, the RTBC organizer, “The NCM Motorsports Park is the next generation venue that meets the needs of automotive manufacturers and after-market performance entities. Having a facility that is close to the Corvette assembly plant provides a unique opportunity for performance research and development.”
Additionally, in early Jaunary NCM will break ground on the first expansion of the complex by adding in 22 day-rental garages and a pavilion area for concessions, restroom facilities and showers. The garage area will include eighteen 17′ x 24′ garages, and four oversized garages that will be used primarily for tech purposes.
The pavilion area, as well as the entrance road to the track, will be named in honor of Kimberlee A. Fast, a racer and NCM regular who lost her battle with leukemia in 2010. Her father, Chuck Fast, said at the track opening in August, “Kim attended most of the events at the NCM. We thought that she would really be proud to have the building named after her.” The complex is expected to be finished, weather permitting, by April 2015.
