Open Wheel Shootout Supermodified Feature Race! These Beasts Are Some Of The Nastiest Cars To Race A Paved Oval

If you haven’t seen a Super Modified circle track racer before, you are missing out. There isn’t anything about them that isn’t designed to go around a left hand corner as quickly as possible. At the PRI Show last year, Eric Yost and I sat looking at one in the Wilwood booth and it just never gets old to see one of these machines. The engine, driver, drivetrain, everything in them is pushed over as far to the left as possible so that they can have as much weight on the inside tires as possible. The geometry and loading that is going on in one of these chassis is truly something special.

In the video below, from the Open Wheel Shootout, you are going to see why their racing is so good. Check out the action, and the driver interviews, and let us know what you think.

Video Description:

Rewatch the entire supermodified feature that saw father and son Ken in his Pink Lady machine and strong 2023 contender Davey Hamilton return to fight for redemption to be claim the supermodified trophy, taking on new challengers like New York’s Otto Sitterly who would turn out to be a force to be reckoned with in a feature that was a war of attrition as mechanical issues and crashes took out top contenders one by one.
