If you are a casual drifting fan, or not a fan at all, you might not know that this motorsport started on the streets. We’re not talking about sideshows and hooning, we’re talking about tight mountain roads in Japan where two cars would battle their way up the mountain in tandem, or where a string of cars would chase and follow up the road from top to bottom and vice versa. Just look at what it was like in this video from the guys at 1320Video.
They were in Japan for the Tokyo Auto Salon not long ago and this is all part of that trip. Check it out, because it is nuts.

What a way to experience car culture in Japan – riding passenger in a 1JZ Chaser sedan, drifting on the highways of Japan at over 90mph and doing tandem drifts through the mountains! We wrapped up by taking our shenanigans to the circuit for some legitimate drifting, which turned out to be way crazier than expected.
