Racing Action From King Of The Heap! Are $1,000 Crapcans Good At Racing?

Alright, I’m going to cop to a failure: I was planning on getting videos and much more photos from the first King of the Heap event of the year at NCM Motorsports Park. What ended up happening was simple: We raced the Cadillac, the Cadillac absolutely shit the bed, and I spent the rest of the day waiting to get that six thousand pound behemoth back to my house for a date with the ten-pound sledgehammer that really…really…needed to happen after fluid leaks meant that we were no longer able to play. I was not a happy camper and that’s really understating the fact. Nevermind that everybody seemed to love the car, nevermind that the other guys on the team were over the moon about racing that turd on the track, I was just pissed that the Caddy sucked so bad.

Luckily, I wasn’t the only person with recording equipment of any kind on the property. Garage Topics was on hand, driving one of the most reliable cars that has taken part in the race, the 2009 Hyundai Sonata that was liberated from a junkyard and treated to the Mr. Gasket treatment. It ran every race last year and had a strong showing so far this year. But you’ll get to see a better view of what actually goes on at a King of the Heap race, including laps of NCM’s East Course and the autocross course that Brian Mason and crew put together for the competitors. You’ll also be treated to the epic rainstorm that saturated the area and knocked out the fourth event from happening. What you won’t see?

A limo doing anything. Because it sucked.
