Yes, there’s a Honda Civic on the pages of BangShift. Yes, it is bright orange, has a bodykit, and probably makes a noise similar to thirty thousand yellow jackets flying in unison. But I wouldn’t have put this Honda up if there wasn’t some kind of merit, so don’t write the car off immediately. For starters, a lot of the “Rice Rice Baby” crowd don’t tend to go for the older Civics, mainly because for the true ricer, a carburetor is a relic that confuses them. And the look isn’t completely lost. Sure, I want a glass of orange juice now, but the overall look says “track day”, and that’s backed up by the roll cage and the CNC seats.

What we have here is a toy that could be easily converted to run on the street. Functioning lights, some glass (or Lexan if you want to be seriously hardcore) and some license plates would make this Civic a commuter car with a serious edge and a sketchy habit on the weekends. We don’t know if this has the 1300cc or 1500cc engine, but picture this thing with a K20 motor. Would that even fit? We don’t know, but it would be neat to see.

As a Rough Start car, there’s a certain quality missing: street legality, which we doubt it has now. But $2500 for a track toy isn’t bad, and it’s not far from legality. Whether that’s a deal or a deal-breaker depends upon your own circumstances.

I’ve featured a Honda Civic on BangShift. I must’ve lost my damn mind.

A K20 would definitely fit in there, as Rywire put one in the earlier, smaller Civic CVCC (Along with drive-by-wire individual throttle bodies!) and I’m sure it would haul ass. Definitely needs some changes to the front and rear bumpers but this would be a fun autocross rocket
