I can remember as a kid, seeing pictures of the Tyrrell P34 Formula 1 car and thinking that F1 was some crazy stuff. I mean if you see this thing with 4 tiny wheels and tires up front, and two big ones out back, you’d think someone had drank a bit much and ended up waking up to this. And who wouldn’t dig it? I love these things and not just because they are so unique. In fact, the biggest draw to them for me was the fact that the folks who designed and built it were clearly paying attention to what wasn’t written in the rules, rather than just what was. I love them for it and was thrilled to see this video from the folks at Goodwood and you will be too.
This car came out in the 1970’s, when F1 racing went crazy with different designs and setups. Some say it was the real birth of modern F1 racing, if for no reason than because some of the ideas being played with were so far outside anything anyone had ever seen before. And the Tyrrell P34 is a prime example.

This design still intrigues motorsport enthusiasts to this day. Let us walk you through what made the Tyrrell P34 a game-changer in the Formula 1 world.
