Widebody stuff has been all the rage in recent years, because tire size matters more than ever, increasing trends, and more. But whatever the reason for wanting all the body covering all the tire, there are several different ways to get the look. We’ve seen hand crafted steel flares and wide body kits, aluminum ones, and of course tons of fiberglass. The fiberglass flares and widebody mods can be done several different ways in order to get the same result. But can you take a wide body kit for a Porsche and make it fit an MGB? Hmmmm
So I’m not a small foreign car person in the grand scheme of things, and I’ve never cared much about the MG platforms, but take an MGB and make it powerful and fun and there is something I like. Back in the day they were raced with flares and I like that look, but how about a full blown fat fendered wide body kit? Well, we’re about to find out just how it works, how it looks, and whether or not cutting up a perfectly good MGB is going to end up being a good idea. I personally love it. I mean why wouldn’t you?
Here’s the entire front half being built. Be inspired by this one, because while he’s got talent, he is not a fiberglass parts builder and FAILS miserably in some ways. That’s okay, because he learns and keeps going and the result is pretty awesome if I do say so myself. Makes me want to go buy some fiberglass and some resin and start making stuff!
Damn he really went about that the hard way!
Hey Chad, I wasn’t much a MGB fan until I got one with a SBC in it (stock MGB with weak sbc was a BAD idea), now that mine has a full chassis & custom front & rear suspension, put a 500hp sbc in its BIG FUN !. I’m about to get some body work done, bigs & littles, some more safety equip. and drag race it this year. It’s only getting better now.
Chad, check out Jim Stabe’s Wide MGB for something Really Crazy (MGB with a Corvette underneath it)
