Who doesn’t dream of owning an Army truck at some point in their life? And a 2.5 or 5-ton 6×6 has to be at the top of the military food chain when it comes to car guy military transportation love affairs. After all, these suckers will ford water that is over your head, climb almost anything, and will make that dude with the lifted Super Duty down the street seem downright small. When you factor in 478 cubic inches of 6-cylinder multi-fuel power, huge everything, winches that will pull a house off the foundation, and axles most 4×4 guys dream of, there isn’t anything bad here.

Okay, so they tow a house, run over small buildings, and will go most anywhere they can fit and some places they can’t, but there is a downside. That big giant diesel is setup to work with all the gearing for maximum grunt but not good cruising. Well unless you consider 55 mph good cruising. Since most of us don’t, this particular Duece and a Half is great because the engine has been replaced with a 1990 Cummins 6BT and and automatic, and it hauls ass down the road! And it makes more power than the original, and it gets better mileage. WIN WIN WIN.
