We haven’t posted a cool crew cab dually in at least a week, maybe longer, and that’s just weird for us so here you go. Anyone that knows boat owners shouldn’t be surprised to know that this one tows an Eliminator boat around, since high performance boat owners always seem to have really clean and nice stuff. And this lowered crew cab dually qualifies as nice stuff. The paint looks great, we dig the shell, and the stance is as good as you can get without bagging one, although this one does have helper bags out back. If you are going to tow a 5th wheel, or gooseneck, race trailer this sucker is all setup for that as well.
The seller doesn’t list the mileage, but we assume it is fairly low based on the condition of everything. We love the fact that the 454 is backed by a 4l80e, and that it has been rebuilt for heavy duty towing. But what really excites us is the GearVendors overdrive and controller unit that has been installed. It can be switched to manual or automatic mode and would make this thing a dream to drive down the highway. If it were ours, since the 4l80e has an overdrive in it as well, we’d probably switch the rear gears to a 4.56 or 4.88 to get even more mechanical advantage down low and still have a better overdrive than stock. Plus the GearVendors allows for gear splitting which will make your engine pull harder and happier right in the middle of the power band. It’s a good thing for sure.
Other than the possible gear change the only things we’d consider doing to this sucker would be air ride to get it even lower and of course some stereo upgrades. Otherwise, it seems awesome as hell.

No longer serves it\’s purpose? Ever been in the pits of a drag strip in the 90\’s? Trucks like this everywhere hooked up to trailers. There\’s photos and videos online of guys with bagged trucks pulling 30\’ gooseneck trailers.
The only thing that puts this truck in the \”no longer can serve it\’s purpose\” category is the topper.
This thing is sweet! Hating on stuff that isn\’t exactly what you would build seems a little H.A.M.B. forum-like.
Yes I was there in the 90’s, the 80’s, and even the 70’s… and frankly don’t recall seeing this, but hey that was 20 years ago.
Payload and towing capacity are not interchangeable.

And when they’re lowered correctly, the truck performs work just as it would have off the showroom floor. It doesn’t know the distance between the frame and body are just closer together.
