That means you can do anything you want to it. Anything. And at $1000 what do you have to lose? Technically it is not legal, we’re going to be right up front about that, but since this truck was original diesel equipped and is old enough to require no emissions or safety inspection, the canvas is blank and ready for your artistry. So the question becomes, do you find a take out Duramax? Or maybe a 12v Cummins? Or do you go LS? Or maybe some BIG big block Chevrolet?
If it was mine, and I really wish it was, I’d go for the cheapest power per dollar option. That means I would probably grab a big block from the wrecking yard and do a cam, carb, and intake swap on it. But if there was an LS option that was as good or a better deal then I might go that route too. To me, the best option would be a fully mechanical Cummins. No electronics to deal with make them a pretty easy swap. But finding one for cheap might not be as easy as it once was.
Regardless of the powertrain, this sucker would get the Chad Reynolds dually required on it’s nuts stance with air. Come on, you know that is how this has to go. So laid on it’s nuts, with air, simple and clean, and drive it as much as possible. Sounds like a recipe for fun don’t you think?
What would you do with it?
