This 1951 Ford COE Fuel Truck Is Begging To Become A Car Hauling Ramp Truck.

This 1951 Ford COE Fuel Truck Is Begging To Become A Car Hauling Ramp Truck.

Whenever we see one of these tanker trucks we think that cutting the tank off of it and leaving the sides with a ramp truck bed in between would be the coolest thing ever. And since this one is already rusty on the sides and such, nobody is going to feel bad about cutting on it a bit. Or at least I wouldn’t. I’d probably swap the entire thing onto a later model chassis of some kind first, and then start hacking and cutting, and see what we could come up with. I wonder if they made crew cab bodies in 1951… Hmmm…

Here is what the seller has to say:

Very Cool and Rare Ford F-6 COE Cabover Fuel Bulk Truck, Has a 254 (4.2L) Flathead 6cyl. 115HP motor, I think it has a 5 or 6 speed transmission, I have not tried to start or turn the motor over, the truck does roll freely and steers, as you can see by the pic’s the truck has rust that said the frame is solid the cab is pretty good and the bulk tank seems very solid and still has the hose reel in the back, I have the dually tire and spacer that is missing from the drivers side and it goes with the truck, Have clear title in hand, call with any questions, Thanks for looking.

Instead of a ramp truck conversion, how about making it an enclosed car hauler that keeps the original tanker truck body look on the outside?

My thoughts exactly. The tank would have to be reconstructed at full-width and in aluminum, and the rr door made larger but all with the same look. Then imagine backing a race car outta that…too cool.

Just restore it. My dad used to run a Pure Oil station, this would be a great addition to a petroleum collection.

So cool that the inside of the drivers door is rusted where many a driver rested his arm holding onto the wing window frame.
