With the popularity of the 1967-1972 Chevrolet C10, it seems like it is getting harder and harder to find unmolested, or unrestored, examples. So when we see one like this particular C10, it always gets us excited. Don’t get us wrong, we’d molest this thing within minutes of owning it, but it’s still cool to see. We especially dig the old school camper shell that must have been the cat’s meow back in the day. We’d ditch it of course, but not before driving it around town for at least a day with it on.
There are a bunch of good parts that come with this one, and several things have already been done or replaced, so it is well on it’s way to being a great.
What would you do with it?
Here is the info from the seller:
Very nice hard to find 1968 GMC 1500 1/2 ton factory short bed pickup. Why buy a cut down long bed when you can have a real factory short bed. Very nice truck runs very good has 250 inline 6 3 speed on the column and 3.73 posi rear end. Everything works lights, turn signals, brakes, wipers, heater,. just needs a clutch to be a driver. Tires are brand new and have less than 20 miles on them. Has minimal minor rust in normal areas of the cab rockers, etc. doors shut like new I have upgraded the truck with the best possible oem original chrome grill and bumpers and chrome vent windows and super hard to find GMC custom deluxe horn button.never had a rear bumper until now. Vintage era correct canopy/ camper shell is in excellent condition. No leaks. Has clean and clear title in my name and is registered as a collector vehicle. I have a CPP bolt in C notch kit and a rear end flip kit and CPP 3″ drop lowering springs for it. And a rust free correct 68 fender to replace the rust free 67 fender on the right front. also have a factory am radio. And brand new rear window gasket and the stainless trim for both windshield and rear window and I also have the original rear window as well. Side mirrors are brand new stainless. $7,000.

Well… I’d put a clutch in it. The original plan I had for my ’72 Chevy (before things turned into swapping an LS and a 4L60E in there) was to have a cool beater truck that I didn’t need to do much of anything to. I’d still like to have a truck that fits that goal.
Although I’m a bit more interested in the ambulance in the background.
1968 ambulance also have a 1970 ambulance and a 1972 suburban not selling any of them
Why can sellers not post pictures of the rust/damage on vehicles instead of pictures taken from 20 feet away? Why not put a clutch in it and take some decent pictures? Sheesh………
There wasnt much rust pretty much just a minor typical amount in the rockers and in the lower window opening that was it.
Looks like a blank canvas to me, could just about anything you want, COOL. Hope a BSer gets it, would be awesome to watch the transformation.
It’s a nice truck but not $7K nice. Can’t spend a few hundred dollars to put on a new clutch?
Work too much and have too many other cars to work on
Re-power and re-badge it with Toyota gear, then show it at every Chevy show I could find.
Where is it located? I didn’t see a link or phone number. Not even a license plate as a clue.
It’s an original 68 C10. Why not leave it original, and find something someone else has already bastardized to make a hot rod out of?
GMC short beds are a rare find. The were marketed as pure work trucks back then. Most had leaf spring rear ends with Dana 44’s in 68. The Chevy short bed C10’s were far, far more prevalent.
Changing the clutch with the original SM465 trans without a lift and trans jack is easier by pulling the engine. But, a straight six is super quick pull.
Even in LA, most of the ’67-72’s had rocker panel rot. So count on replacing those. The camper shell probably kept the bed floor rust free.
Personally, I would just drive it as is until the sixer died, then upgrade.
Already sold the truck thanks for the interest. Iam also selling a 1959 apache short bed fleetside. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/5948314775.html
