Now you can walk into your Chevrolet dealer and buy a brand new half ton short bed crew cab truck. But you couldn’t in the square body era. And that sucked. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t realize it sucked until now, but we know it now and it sucks. Since we’re hot rodders of course we’ve figured out how to shorten and lengthen and build whatever we want. Hence this short bed, crew cab, square body Chevy.
There are some things we’d do to this sucker if it was ours, namely lowering it a bit more and replacing a few parts with some stuff from Ridetech. We’d also put the front inner fenders back in it, and probably sell off the wheels for something a little more our taste. But with that said, this is a one bitchin ride and a lot of work went into building it. You aren’t going to be able to build one a lot cheaper unless you can do all the work yourself. We dig it. And it makes us want one even more now that we’re looking at this one. Our problem is we want TWO crew cabs. One that is a short bed like this one, and one that is a slammed crew cab dually.
The wants suck when you don’t have the money to buy it all!
Here is what the seller has to say about it:
I have my 1977 Chevy crew cab short bed 1/2 ton dream truck up for sale…. I built this truck at my shop over the last year and a half from multiple trucks. This truck has a SBC 350 with a cam, timing gears, headers, electronic ignition, Electric fan, Holley Electric fuel pump Edelbrock carb and intake manifold, one wire Summit 100 amp alternator, aluminum timing cover and oil pan, Taylor wires, E3 plugs, dual battery’s, turbo 400 trans, 10 bolt rear end sitting on 20 inch Hustler rims. The frame was graphed from behind the cab with a 1981 Chevy 1/2 ton s/b bed and frame section, gas tank is on the drivers side still and made to look stock, with 4 inch c-sections. The truck has air ride using bags and plates from Universal air, we used Viar 444 compressors, Slam specialties switch box, aluminum air tank and 4 block valves and does front/back/side to side/all up and all down also has fitting for external air line for tires/toys etc, and the truck does sit on the ground. We also have an air gauge inside for alignment purposes, also has air horns. We used 3/8 air line so moves pretty fast and is very dependable. Truck has a Cowl induction hood, Phantom grille, (from an 81) polished rear tailgate panel and started powder coating the bumpers and door handles, we shave the drip rails and we installed a full rag top from front to back. The truck has a Sony a/m f/m mp, with blue tooth, a pair of kicker 6’s a 1000 watt amp and two 12’s behind the seat with a bass knob. The interior came the way I bought the truck, not my speed but is clean in the mean time. Has polished billet steering wheel, and polished piece above the glove box, and window cranks all the gauges work except the gas gauge (but we are working on it still) also has a tach and dash cover. We installed a Viper alarm and power door locks up front, I have the rears just not installed yet, we put in Halo head lights and H4 bulbs as well as new rear tail light lens, the truck also has no hole cut in the bed and a new bed liner. The truck was sanded all the way to bare metal and is ready for final body work and paint if so desired, as for now it is Satin black out of a can. This is an extremely fun, cool dependable truck that Chevy SHOULD HAVE MADE!!! I need to put money back in my business is the only reason Im putting it up for sale. I am asking $15K for the truck, preferably cash no trades if possible. Keep in mind this is a one of a kind hand built 40 year old truck built at Sinister Garage! My loss is your gain, I have the pink in hand.
