Built To Roam: UNIMOG EXPEDITION VEHICLE Walkaround And First Trip! – 1983 Ex-Army Mercedes Benz Unimog U1700L

Maybe I’m weird, but I’ve always thought that going out in an expedition vehicle to travel some of the world would be an epic adventure. Not only because you would be on a killer road trip with cool stuff to see, but also because expedition vehicles are cool and I love what goes into them. Plus, I have a penchant for RVs and these are basically bare bones or ultra off-road capable rvs in some cases and that makes me happy. A UNIMOG has always been on my list of must own off-road vehicles, and expedition versions are arguably the best ones around, so this one here makes me smile. The fact that it is bare bones but capable and will serve as home for these two just makes me love them even more. This is going to be cool.

But what has been done to this particular UNIMOG to make it ready for off-road expedition adventures? Being as they are so capable on road and off, you’d think there isn’t much needed to head cross country, but if you are going to live in the thing then that isn’t necessarily the case. Now we’ve seen plenty of really trick, comfortable, and amazing expedition build outs over the years, and this is NOT that. Not yet anyway. Like you, we’ll be following along as that build does happen though, so watch these two videos and we’ll bring you updates as soon as we get them!
