In the first video that the Fab Rats put together on this YJ, you’ll remember that they marked it up and then cut the thing right in half, without any hesitation and with little fanfare. Of course the reason for the cutting was to extend the wheelbase some and to link the rear suspension instead of living with leaf springs. They even built the extensions for the chassis and welded it all back together in that first episode. Well the chassis at any rate, even if the body is still cut all to hell. In this episode they get after the rear suspension, link the thing, and then get into more of the build as well. It’s not done yet, but the next couple episodes should at least make the thing run and drive.
I love the way these guys work on these projects because it all turns out pretty nice even though they don’t seem to be all that confidence inspiring in their description of what is going to happen next. I do find myself laughing, and at the same time I love what they’ve done with the thing. Maybe I need to be building off-road rigs more often. Who knows.
