Take A Video Tour Of This Two Story Spartan Manor 1950’s Travel Trailer

Check THIS beast out! It’s a 1953 Spartan Manor RV Trailer that owner Shirley Wallace grew up in with her mom, dad, and sister. In 1957, after her and her sister grew too big to sleep in the front living area/bedroom, Shirley’s dad, who was a carpenter by trade, called Spartan and ordered the parts to add on his own 2nd story to the family’s trailer, thereby making it the only Two Story Spartan Manor in existence. It’s a huge beast that features a living area, kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom and then two separate bedrooms upstairs. I can’t imagine towing this thing with a 1950’s truck, let alone my 3/4 ton Suburban, but it sure would be the talk of the campground.

The stuff inside this trailer is amazing. Shirley’s dad thought of everything and this trailer has features normal people didn’t implement into RVs until the ’80’s and ’90’s, at the earliest.

Take a look at the video. You won’t believe it.

I don’t know, Chad. At 3:57 there is a b&w picture of the trailer being towed by a 50’s Chevy step-side. Though it might have been a 3/4 ton, it probably only had an inline 6.
I am willing to bet your ‘burban has more Wheaties and tow capacity.
    Just sayin’ 😉

Looks like she has a Henry J in the garage. ..If you look at the vintage still photos in the video of the trailer being pulled..That same Henry J is in front of the truck.

  3. Jon Wallace

It’s the same Henry J that is in the picture. 1952 been in the family all it’s life.

Looks like there used to be another addition when parked at one point in the life of the trailer.

  5. Jon Wallace

That was when it was in Alderpoint Ray. He put a cabana on the side to house his Harley and the cats.

If no one in the family wants it,
we need to find somewhere to keep it intact.
    This needs to be preserved.
