The Reign of Rocks Rock Crawling Competition is looking to be one for the books, as 8 drivers and their rigs are pitted against each other and the rocks of Tennessee. Located at Chinquipin Off-Road Park, there is a big variety of rocks, bonus obstacles, and more to challenge the drivers and their rigs. The rigs are awesome, with one dude (Alex Watkins) deciding a Toyota truck was the way to go in a land of Jeeps. He clearly marches to the beat of a different drummer, which makes him our people. This is a points based event, with simple rules that anyone can follow. Each of the 11 obstacles is worth 30 points if you make it up the first time, 20 if it takes you two tries, 10 if the third time is the charm, and 0 if you make it after that. There are bonus lines, worth 50 points, but if you fail to make them after three runs you have to make the regular obstacle in one shot for 20 points or nothing.

The action is cool, the obstacles look fun, and we wish we were there jamming up all this cool stuff ourselves! I haven’t built on off-road truck in a few years, but maybe once the new shop is done we need to come up with something cool to make into a fun off-road machine. Hmmm…..
