This Awesome Tilt Shift Video From King Of The Hammers Makes Them All Look Like Toys

You might not be familiar with the term Tilt Shift Photography, but it is a style of time lapse if you will. Think Claymation and them from back in the day, but with real subjects that are actually moving in real time. The process for capturing it is interesting, but the finished product is what really stands out as awesome. This is one of those pieces you will watch and smile about. The killer rigs of King of the Hammers, the baddest one day off-road race on earth, look like toys some kid is playing with. In fact there is a purity that this brings to the competition. We’ve been to King of the Hammers several times, in fact missing it this year for the first time in the last several, and the competition is incredibly intense. But one thing that is lost sometimes is the fact that, ultimately, it is the rig vs the desert. It is man and machine against rocks, and sand, and time. Well this style of video gets rid of the drama and anxiety of watching two trucks battle it out and instead highlights the individual struggles. I’m not sure they even meant for it to do that, but it does.

Watch and enjoy, it’s pretty cool stuff. And big thanks to the guys at On Tilt for sending it over. We dig it.
