We love fast trucks around here, and we love loud and fast racing. By that measure, Class 8 trucks are high on our list of dirt toys we dream of being able to drive. You may have your favorites, but the driver I always think of when it comes to these trucks is Walker Evans, who campaigned Dodge Rams throughout the 1980s. With Keith Black motors, Evans’ Dodge was a stomper. Compared to the well-established Evans, Robby Gordon was a relative newcomer, a twenty-year-old kid who had been running off-road trucks for a couple of years prior to the Brush Run 101 in Crandon, Wisconsin. You can see the different driving methods throughout this run-off: both are quick, but Evans is calculated and paced, where Gordon is nothing short of balls-out the entire run. Who wins?
