This year, the FIA’s European Truck Racing Championship started posting every round of their championship on YouTube after the race weekend for free. It’s basically like five-ton touring cars hurtling around road courses on the continent, which is a perfectly entertaining way to spend a bit of your free time. And if some free truck racing is good, more of it is surely better, right? The British Truck Racing Championship races in the United Kingdom are also posted on YouTube for your free perusal. The fields are a bit smaller (usually around 10 trucks) than the ETRC, but there’s typically still plenty of big-rig wheel-banging going on throughout the course of a race meeting.
The very idea of taking trucks to race on some of Britain’s road courses, is pretty nuts. The Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, for example, features a steep diving first turn, Paddock Hill Bend to the British-racing savvy, that must be like riding a dumpster down a roller coaster hill. Nimble road racers, these are not, and by brute force they seem to carve their way around Brands Hatch, Pembrey Circuit in Wales, Thruxton Circuit, and more. The races show up as full weekend summaries with a bit of delay, but you can get caught up on the Truck Sport UK YouTube Channel to catch all of the dogged British trucks and their drivers in action. Here’s the first round of the 2016 championship from Brands Hatch:
