The driver of the yellow-and-green semi tractor should consider himself extremely lucky after surviving this accident on January 15, 2015. While moving containers around the Perama Container Terminal in Pireaus, Greece, strong winds caused an intermodal shipping container to separate from it’s hoist and come crashing down on top of the truck. The container then rolled off the side of the truck and after rolling forward, the driver stopped. Other drivers, including the operator of the truck with the dash cam, rushed over to help. The driver of the crushed truck sustained a back injury, but considering what could have happened, we are willing to bet he still feels lucky…a fully loaded intermodal container like this one could weigh just over 33 tons fully loaded.
