Nissan’s Tracked SUVs Are The Right Idea For The Snowbound – Shame They Are Only A Concept!

Nissan’s Tracked SUVs Are The Right Idea For The Snowbound – Shame They Are Only A Concept!

To say that I’m not a fan of winter is really understating the fact. I have enough broken bones in this body that I can physically feel the season coming in…it feels like a migraine across my body. I hate the cold. And after the first snow of the season, I can really do without the fluffy white stuff piling up on the ground. It’s a mess. Do I sound a little bit bitter? Yeah, probably…it might have something to do with standing behind my Chrysler 300 as my wife had her foot to the floor, pushing that tank up the last hill before our house when we got hit with a white-out a couple of days ago. That can irritate anyone, even before you get pelted in the shin with road gravel and snow by the pound.

Nissan brought three tracked vehicles to the Chicago Auto Show. The Rogue, Murano and Pathfinder Winter Warrior concepts are all equipped with “Dominator” tracks from American Track Truck that measure thirty inches high, fifteen inches wide, and forty-eight inches in length. The fenders have been trimmed for clearance and the usual show vehicle candy has been added, including the chrome-red wraps, special floor mats and cargo hold protectors, roof racks and just because, a 9’x9′ tent in the hatch, just in case you feel like camping. If you ignore the show-car gingerbread, you have what might be the only way I could possibly warm up to a CUV. Worried about snow? Not with these puppies carrying you…you would have to deliberately drive into the ditch with these tracks on, and chances are good that the truck would just shrug it off and keep going. You have to wonder how hard it would be to actually sell a tracked SUV in places that get snow by the ton every year…I would honestly consider one.

Really ? Every time I see a image of an ” SUV ” or pickup w/a track set up I want to puke . Google Tucker Snow Cat – started in the 40’s w/ 4 track set up
