The Big Boy: Going In-Depth In Ryan Anderson’s “Son-uva Digger” Monster Truck!

Monster trucks of today are the closest thing there is to a cartoon in the real world. They weigh as much as four average cars and are pushing well over a thousand horsepower. The tires are just about as tall as most men, children could sleep inside the wheels, and on any given event the drivers are doing their best to make them look like they were nimble, featherweight and the only part of the equation that makes sense, violent. What started off as backyard engineering in a grand scale has evolved over decades into these tube-frame creations, and the engineering behind them is deep. This isn’t the same as back in the day where a stripped-out tractor donated parts to put a Ford truck way up in the air and any kind of action put the driver into pain at the first slight bump.

Ryan Anderson was born into monster trucks from birth. He’s the son of Dennis Anderson, the driver of the infamous Grave Digger monster truck, and is notorious not just for crushing cars or flying the thing (he does both well) but doing freestyle driving…which means doing things with one of these trucks that defy physics.
