Oh, lord…thank you, Josh Mazerolle, for giving us an idea that we didn’t know we needed to entertain. Look at the lineup…a Dodge Charger, a Volvo wagon, several Panther-bodied cars, a Packard that’s been converted into both a dually and a mobile repair shop, a Chevrolet van turned…well, the Sawzall was involved, for sure, and of course one rotted Cadillac convertible that might be punishing it’s owner for sins in advance, all gathered in Tennessee at Windrock Park ORV. This is Mazerolle’s brainchild, the Deathwish Mud Buggy Adventure. The premise: $5,000 total investment or less in off-road ready vehicles that did not come from the factory with four-wheel-drive. We get the appeal of cheap off-roading, but we have to admit…pretty much every vehicle that you will see on this trail ride looks like a riot. A couple of them look outright classy. We’re familiar with the Trophy LTD build, the desert-racing Ford Crown Victoria LTD that blew us away when we first saw it. But look at some of these beasts! The Trophy LTD isn’t going to romp through deep mud like that Cummins-powered Town Car will.
Mazerolle is the right amount of unglued and this off-roading trip looks like a perfect way to unwind and have a bit of fun. Check out the rides that showed up and see if you can pick a favorite out!
