my favorite is putting the wrong fitting on. I'm always so proud of myself before the "d'oh!"

or bend the line with the right fitting, on the right direction, do the perfect double flare, and realize you can't slide the fitting back over the radius.... bonus points if you do that with your last piece of pipeOriginally posted by Russell View PostBend the line put the fitting on only to find out there is not enough line for the flaring tool and the fitting will not go around the bend.
and avoid the green pipe - I used it on my Studebaker, and it split a couple years after I did it.Last edited by SuperBuickGuy; August 17, 2013, 06:33 AM.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

double bonus if you do that 10 minutes after the parts stores closed. Finished. Drove it around the block a few times. It definitely needs more leg to slow it down. I'm gonna run it like this for a while before deciding wether to move the pedal or not.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Naaa. It stops ok, just needs more effort than before, but that was expected.
The extra space around the valve cover and spark plug is very nice though!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I have manual brakes and I would like to reduce pedal effort some also.
First thing I'm going to do is try more aggressive brake pads, sitting in a box out in the garage.
I have a 1 1/8 master cyl, I may try a 7/8 version soon.Comment

try a 1" mc first, that's good for about 25% reduction in pedal effort. Sure helped my 55.My fabulous web page

Now I know what it's like, I am leaning toward going ahead and doing it.Originally posted by Beagle View PostJury still out on the pivot / pin relocation?
I fattened up the transition circuit Sunday while I was waiting for the sealer on the water pump fittings to dry. It was running a little on the lean side around town, and it ran it quickest 60' in Amarillo back when they were a little richer, so I bumped them up just a hair.
I'll pop the water pump back on sometime this week.
Amarillo Dragway is having a test n tune on the 7th and is forking out some $$$ for the quickest car, truck and motorcycle driven to the track from a designated location in town. Moparman63 and I are going to give it a whirl. I can only think of a couple of cars that are quicker than mine that would probably do it. Maybe they will be busy that weekend! lolLast edited by BBR; August 27, 2013, 06:06 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

It's been a few years. My '73 Ford F-100 was manual, the '84 Ranger that I had after that was manual and my '68 Coronet was manual. I sold the Coronet in 2005. It had a late model m/c and 4 wheel Wilwood discs.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Went by Walmart at lunch and picked up a strainer for $3. Looks like it was darn near made for a Dominator. haha That little diamond in the handle fit right over the float adjustment screw perfectly.

I cut the handle off and poked a hole for the stud. Now I can run without the filter and see if it picks up any w/o worrying about chunks of burnout rubber or rocks. It may not pick up any, but at least I can A-B-A test now w/o fear of ingesting anything.
