      Bob beat me to it.

This is exactly what I would do. Only expense would be longer ubolts, last time I did this ubolts ran me $20 at NAPA.

I added 3 leafs, turned a tail dragger 1/2 ton van into a nicely sprung tow vehicle.

Oh, and you might need longer spring pack bolts too. Also cheap. C-clamps help to get the center bolt started.

And I think the complete k-swap sounds like a winner. You can fab around any obstacles that arise, right?

I don't think there's any fab work needed. It should be a swap.
        Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

His springs are basically in an "S" shape with the car just sitting there, ya pretty bad, his best bet is to call Performance Suspension down here in Phoenix and see if they can get springs for him, if not he'll need to take a day and come down here to Phoenix to Dunbar Spring and have them rebuild his springs...... but what he has now especially on the Marader are pretty wasted......

And like I said Bryan let me know when you want to do it, I'll even bring a compressor, air tools, jacks, stands, welder and whatever else we may need.......

if you want i could scan the pages in the FSM that deal with removing the sub-frame

what really blows is i had a set of decent springs form a police car diplomat for years and finally just scrapped them last week

Mopar does make springs with an S in them.. Those cars, I wouldnt know
Redoing spring packs are not terribly difficult.. You just need to be careful.. We made a tool out of a trunk spring rod, that way it can be tapped on to get the leaves aligned.. I would think using the longest ones will help out.. Even cuttingoff the eyes from one set and using them will go a long ways .. I do not want to get into how we build our spring packs.. Many have tried to copy.. None figured it out yet.. Do save your clamps, they need to be reused..

S shaped springs are on the Durangos....

on FLM cars the springs should be semi circle

Sorry Alex, I was operating under the assumption that with an impending wedding and the lowbudget nature that new springs were not in the budget.

But hey, you know him personally, have fun spending his money for him.

(And s-springs CAN be "de-essed" with a little barnyard ingenuity and not much $, you should try it sometime?)

Cant leaf springs be re-arched by a spring shop?

Sure can. Find a shop that specializes in Big Rigs, if they can't do it I guarentee they know someone who does.

Nothing to it except for a big press.

It can even be done in any manner of crude ways that require more creativity than money, but I digress.

I'm asking, since the front end for the Mirada is all new. I've been looking for leaf springs since I had the Diplomat...they were pretty worn then. I have about zero metal fab experience (SBG can vouch for that..) and while the car is on a bit of a budget, I'm also on the opinion that there are some things in car building you just don't go cheap on.

I've been searching PST and Performance Suspension for leafs, to failure. I'll check out the other place in the next couple of days.

If you can't find it on Performance Suspension's website call them, ask for Jerry(he's the owner)......

If you go the re-arcing/rebuilding way, call Dunbar Spring or Valley Spring, there might be a couple of others to, but I don't have them off the top of my head, I've always used Dunbar..........

By the way Dunbar has been around since 1919.......

Dunbar can re-arch. One less thing to worry about.

Now, to the swap en masse. When would be a good time to do it? I have a section of time in October (12-14) that should be about perfect. I can get the rear swapped in before then, maybe even with the springs re-arched by then. I've got a carb conversion computer interface en route (I HOPE) and everything else is there. I should have Ryan M. and Greg (JapTrapDriver) on board at least, maybe even Ryan S. and a couple other people. I'm banking on needing the cherry picker, and a few jacks and stands (I've got six stands, I think.) I'm sure I'll need heavy tools for the K-frames, still wondering how the hell that's gonna work out. But I don't wanna give up a fresh frontend, that'd be stupid.

                              Getting a little nervous...
