BangShift Daily Tune Up: “Life Is A Highway” Tom Cochrane And Rascal Flatts Versions (1991/2006)

Life is a Highway is a great song that speaks to every single one of our roadtripping genes, and when it was originally sang by Tom Cochrane back in 1991 it was a big hit and has always been a song you sing to since. Then in 2006 with Disney’s Cars movie the song was resurrected, this time with Rascal Flatts singing it. Regardless of which version you like, we’ve got them both right here. For any of you Chris LeDoux fans out there, we also included it as a bonus edition. Watch all three and let us know which one you like best.

I was surprised that a song riddled with so much ham-fisted double entendre about nookie “made it” into a kids’ movie.

I expected more of a hard-core “rodeo” vibe out of LeDoux. Disappointing.

Tom Cochrane looks (and probably sounds) like Larry Bird’s cousin.

Rascal Flatts for the win (notwithstanding the weird dude with the sock puppet hat and the portly groupie . . . Letterman plants in the crowd?)

I grew up listening to fellow Canuck Tom Cochrane so it’s his for the win for me , although Rascal Flatts version was great for the Cars movie
