We laugh at the freaks on Doomsday Preppers every time we see that show on tv, but we’re probably not going to laugh at the guys on Doomsday on Wheels nearly as much, because they have cool cars and trucks that we would drive. And since the producers over at BCII, who produce Are You Faster Than A Redneck, Hot Rod TV, and many of your car guy favorites, are fans of BangShift.com, they sent us over a sneak peak of what we can expect on these cars and trucks. After watching the trailer for Doomsday On Wheels, which airs Sunday April 28th at 9pm on Travel Channel, we wanted to get more info on these beasts, and so here they are.

RhinoCHARGE
In a world that can change at any given moment, Robert Tatum wanted to have a company devoted to building vehicles designed to protect lives. His answer? The Armour Group. He started out with the RhinoPAK, an up-armor protection kit designed to take ordinary SUV’s and trucks and turn them into secure vehicles for buyers on a budget. Since then, the Armour Group has blossomed, offering a wide range of secure and armored vehicles. Their latest design, the RhinoCHARGE is a multi purpose, heavily protected beast of a machine with the flexibility to travel into high crime areas through armed assailants and the speed to get out quickly.
It’s designed for 360° protection and Doomsday On Wheels inspects their all around security and fragmentation protection. But Tatum’s RhinoCHARGE amounts to more than just a protective shell. Passengers get additional protection with shock-resistant seats that stop the body from taking damage during an unexpected undercarriage explosion, a Halon system designed to extinguish an in-cabin fire, and most spectacularly, Armour Group’s one-of-a-kind, one way return fire glass. The RhinoCHARGE, tough as its name suggests, is a truly protective fortress on wheels.
RALLY FIGHTER
Take an Ex Marine, the worldwide web, and a whole bunch of gear-heads, designers and car enthusiasts and what to you get? One HOT vehicle! The Rally Fighter began life online as an idea and the global community embraced the efforts of crowd sourcing to pave the way for a whole new concept in car manufacturing. Local Motors is a new American car company where customers have the opportunity to completely personalize their purchase by participating in the actual construction of their Rally Fighter. It’s not your basic assembly line joint!
Jay Rogers conceived the plan to harness innovative minds from all over the world using the web as command central. The largest collaborative online car building community continues to thrive on the Local Motors website. Mike Pisani, in-house designer, will show us animated drawings and Jay will show our crew around the shop where we’ll see the step-by-step build in progress. In a little over four weeks, the 430 hp V8 engine will be ready to rocket this custom off-road vehicle up to 120 mph down any stretch of road you choose. And if things get crazy rough like, say, Nuclear Winter or a Zombie takeover – the Rally Fighter has been voted one of the top ten vehicles to escape a major apocalyptic situation. Whether it is extreme off-road rally racing, heading to the grocery store or dodging the onslaught of the zombie apocalypse, the customer built Rally Fighter, from start to finish, is the only vehicle of its kind.
SURVIVOR TRUCK
Jim Delozier may live in the ‘burbs in Southern California but that doesn’t mean he isn’t prepared to make a quick escape at a moment’s notice. Jim built his own military style survival vehicle that will transport Jim and his family across country and even outside U.S borders in the event of a terrorist attack. According to Jim, Americans are completely dependent on the power grid so if that fails, well, all hell breaks loose. Jim’s strategy to combat the potential destruction of the power grid is his all-wheel drive custom built massive 13-ton truck. The Survivor Truck is designed for extended deployment of multiple people over a long period of time.
The vehicle is built to sleep up to five individuals but is able to house up to 15 people during an emergency deployment where each crew of 5 rotates through a watch, a patrol and a rest. We’ll learn about all the critical systems housed within the custom built, airtight vessel including the thermal regulated camouflage system, video monitoring set up, giant fuel tanks, solar generators, and water storage. The Survivor Truck is uniquely versatile offering endless options for the diverse needs of a post disaster scenario. In the faceoff with extreme adversity this is the vehicle to keep you safe, secure and mobile.
MEDUSA
Weapons experts and armor enthusiasts might be who you first think of when preparing a vehicle for the end of days, but a more unorthodox choice just might be the way to go. Why not look to fans that live, breath, and immerse themselves in apocalypse culture? Doomsday on Wheels found three apocalypse-obsessed film makers, known as Codewolf, who took the cinematic approach. Evan Glodell, Joel Hodge, and Paul Edwardson transformed a ’72 Buick Skylark into this souped up muscle car: the Medusa.
With an affinity for flare and spectacle, the Medusa is designed to scare and intimidate rouges and gangs, while inspiring and rallying allies around it. In addition to speed and incredible handling, this firecracker of a doomsday vehicle has a few unconventional bells and whistles–dual fire spewing exhausts, a bleach reservoir to spray on the tires to initiate drift mode, three built-in cameras for driving through smoke screens and other visual obstructions, and a rustic black paint job with the letters spelling MEDUSA on each side, to send the message home…this is the chariot of hell.
Actually, according to the comments featured on the program, Medusa is intended to be the scary and intimidating rogues and gangs. The bells and whistles are intended to rally other raiders around it, but you are right about this car being the chariot of Hell, or at least, that’s where it’s headed.
