After attending the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend, and having driven on or visited amazingly famous road courses all over the world, it struck me that there are still a ton of them I want to make laps at. I also know that even though I’ve driven the streets of Monaco, I haven’t truly made a “lap” on the FIA Formula One track. Places like Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Road America, Watkins Glen, etc, are known far and wide for being historic and challenging race tracks. But what about places like Gingerman or Putnam Park? There are tracks all over, and as many as I have made laps on, there are tons more that I want to hit. But choosing one is really really hard.
So, if you had to choose one road course to make laps at, what track would it be?
BATHHURST !!!
Nurburgring, Laguna Seca (Mazda Motorsports Park), Barber Motorsports Park all in that order.
Same here but the last would be Road America instead.
Thats easy, Spa.
The 37 and 3/4 mile long Isle of Man TT course.
I’ve been lucky enough to run Mosport (a lot), Watkins Glen, and Sebring. Would love to try Bathhurst, Spa-Francorchamps, and Road America in that order.
The obvious…..Laguna Seca, Nurburgring, and the Circuit de la Sarthe BEFORE they put the chicane in the Mulsanne Straight.
I’ll be thrilled just to get to run Buttonwillow once my car is up for it. I’ll probably set my sights higher later.
I actually got drive that Z28 in the front of the pic. I was pit crewing for Macco Motorsports and we had to get the cars out of the Paddock to put them on trailors. It made 700hp and had a 7″ Tilton twin-disc clutch so you either killed the engine (like I did twice) or burn out. The best part was the Edelbrock camp was just across from ours and Vic was out front. I’m sure it didn’t even phase him but it was the best day of my life!
