Old Or New, Which Demon Do You Choose Now That Dodge Brought Back A Bigger And Badder Demon

Old Or New, Which Demon Do You Choose Now That Dodge Brought Back A Bigger And Badder Demon

Nobody in their right mind will argue with the fact that Dodge’s new Demon is the baddest Demon ever produced. And nobody in their right mind will deny that it is one bad ass machine regardless of the name. But we don’t always choose cars just because of the numbers. In fact most of the time we choose them for some other emotional reason. Or at least enthusiasts do. After all, if cars were only meant to provide transportation and utility they would still only be offered in one color like Henry Ford intended. But such is not the case. So lets take all the other muscle cars and hot rods of today out of the equation. Let’s just concentrate on the Mopar offerings today. If you had a choice of a new Dodge Demon, with its 9 second capabilities, one jillion horsepower, and trick electronics, OR a 1972 Dodge Demon in perfect as new condition, which would you choose?

Do you go for the emotional, romantic, and classic choice? Or do you go straight for the jugular with the new Demon?

Tell us what you think and let us know which one you would choose.

I’d go with the ’72 Dodge Demon because it is a rare care and I use to have a ’72 340 Demon.

caring less which might have more collector value in the future, the new Demon all the way. It’s way more bad ass, and I’d be using every HP, every day, having eleventy billion times more fun than with the old one.

If that ’72 Demon has the 340 4 speed, I would take it every day over the new one.

For me, I’d go with the 72 Demon (minus the spoiler which I’ve never liked on any ‘A’ body). First, I prefer manual transmissions, Second afford-ability and Insurability. It was a car mass-produced for the average young person, and while it didn’t really have the kind of performance, even when seriously modified, and the new Demon embodies, it could be a nice 11-second or better streetable fun car. I have a particular fondness for the 340s, but it really isn’t in the same performance league as the new Demon.

The new Demon is an engineering tour-de-force and a company statement that all associated with it should be proud of, but affordability really wasn’t the goal on that one. That shouldn’t be construed to mean that I wouldn’t like to have one (Yellow, please ;^) ).

    Can I have both, please.

Performance wise , the new Demon is way ahead , but I always had a sweet spot for the old Demons and Dusters they were underdogs and could surprise a lot of larger big block musclecars .

I had a 71,which had a higher hp than the 72. I could work on that and didnt have to have a computer to use it.
