It’s that time again, where we straddle the twilight of one year and the dawn of another. 2015 has been a good year to be a gearhead: Hellcats, GT350s, Z06s, turbocharged Cadillacs, and plenty of other impressive rides have hit the market and have been burning up streets across the country, and the fun doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon…unless you’re Mitsubishi. Hell, the four-cylinder pony car is back, and strangely enough, that doesn’t suck either, since they are pushing power levels that would hit the top of the game ten years ago! We even were blown away when we drove the Ford Edge, a midsize crossover that is swinging above 300 horsepower and packs all-wheel-drive. That doesn’t suck, boys and girls.
As for the upcoming year, I won’t be shy about it: I want to experience the Ford Focus RS. Ford Performance, the combination of SVT, SVO, Ford Racing and the Ford Europe RS program, hit the stage in a big way last year at the Detroit Auto Show when the GT supercar, Mustang Shelby GT350 and Focus RS appeared. While we haven’t had seat time in any of them, the Focus RS is the one I really want to see. We know what a fast Mustang will do, and we saw the Shelby, in the hands of former TopGear “Stig” Ben Collins, repave the asphalt at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. What we haven’t seen from Ford is an all-wheel-drive rally rocket aimed squarely at the Subaru WRX STI with the safety off and a finger on the trigger. It’s one thing for Ford to bring in Ken Block to introduce the car. It’s another altogether to bring in Mr. Hoonigan himself in the testing phase. I’d happily cram behind the steering wheel for some of that action.
What about you? What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming year? The reveal of the redesigned Jeep Wrangler, or maybe the upcoming Wagoneer? Maybe the badass versions of the sixth-generation Camaro, or near-mythical Chrysler ‘Cuda that is still rumored to be happening? What about the racing world…watching for someone at Drag Week, or preparing for RideTech’s Cars and Cones road trip this spring? Let’s hear it!
One thing I’d like to see in 2016 is GM to go out of business and rob the world of that stupid bow tie and all the foulness that it spawns!
Who knows? – the next “dieselgate” could be knock knock knocking on Chevy’s door…
I’ll have my ’75 street/strip Duster back on the road with all of the bugs worked out of it since its completion in 2002, my military career and life got in the way from putting it on the road earlier.
I plan on having it at the Street Machine Nationals 2016 in DuQuoin,Ill.
I’d like to see a Camaro version of the Mustang EcoBoost. An AWD p/u truck that can destroy any autox.
Sorry Geordie but you dream of GM failure is just a dream. Boo freaking hoo!
You mean the turbo-4 6th-gen Camaro that is already confirmed for production, right?
Really? Didn’t know they were making one. Sweet!
Yep, using the turbo 2.0L from the ATS. It’s almost 400lbs lighter than the outgoing V6 model, makes 275hp, does 0-60 in 5.5 and runs the 1/4 mile at 14 flat stock
I am looking forward to seeing more smart sensor technologies – most specifically, pressing forward with self driving technologies.
A RWD V8 big Ford and Lincoln.
Get my 72 Cougar on the road.
Find a Ford dealer dumb enough to trade me a 2016 F150 Platinum even for my 2002 F150.
Get my 70 Challenger repainted.
cars people don’t have to sell kidney, live, half a lung and a testicle to buy…
oh and an end to the bull$h!t “market adjustment” dealers strap on specialty cars. Saw a Roush Mustang on the lot…a 2012…never been sold…5 miles…SILL has the 30K “Market adjustment” If the damn thing ain’t sold yet then maybe…just maybe your plan to ass rape a rube on the purchase price may be flawed…..
Finish my ecoboost powered 1966 F100
Finish my 482″ FE powered 1966 F100

For 2016 I want to see a bull fight, but instead of the bull I want to use a Gm J-body (dont care which one) and we put Chevy Hatin’ Mad Geordie in a hot pink bull fighters outfit and chase him around until we send him to Ford (Fucking Old Rusty Dodge) heaven.
Sounds like a Ford commercial in this review. What I would like to see are cars that people can afford and have fun driving.
