The weekend is here, finally. There are projects to get done, places to go travel to, and tires that need to be punished. We know it’s been a long week, so let’s start things off right with some good blues-infused rock. Clutch’s “Electric Worry” only has one automobile reference, and it’s not even about a car, but a mention of Henry Ford and the money that he made selling cars. That’s all. It’s a performance video, showing the band playing along. The song itself is a partial cover song: according to singer Neil Fallon, half of each verse is taken from Mississippi Fred McDowell’s “Fred’s Worried Life Blues”, and the chorus doesn’t represent violence, but was just a line that guitarist Tim Sult let out one day that caught Fallon’s ear. The whole idea behind the song is to hear it in the form of “a motivational speaker slapping himself out of a stupor.” It’s been a long week…calls, paperwork, bills, errands, and work. Do yourself a favor: hit play, slap yourself out of the stupor, and go enjoy the weekend…preferably with music like this blasting out of the speakers.
Out of my stupor, on the way to the garage to play with cars. Thanks!
Just remember you can do no wrong with Clutch. “Spacegrass” has mention of a dodge swinger and galaxie 500, plus a jesus on the dashboard.
and lets not forget: “Ministry” with:”Jesus built my Hot Rod” or “Primus” with: “Jerry was a race car driver”
Well it would be all Clutch all the time if I had my choice, but if we are going to stray off into hotrod referencing metal songs I will take your Primus and Ministry and raise you a White Zombie- La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1 – “Black Sunshine”. BTW first one to mention Turbo Lover gets a boot in the pills.
Best live show you will see.
Seen them tons of times now.
Try not to miss them.
