For this Tune-Up, I’m reaching back a few years to a favorite of mine. This video is the reason why I want a T-top Cutlass alone. Why? Mellow beat, mellow lyrics, and a reminder on why just going for a drive is so nice. If there is a therapy that works well beyond words, it’s a summer cruise. Not like an organized cruise event, but windows down, motor thrumming along, maybe some tunes out of the stereo. That kind of cruise, the one that finds you out and about on some old road towards sunset. I’ve burned more fuel just enjoying a drive somewhere than anything else, and I happily paid every last cent…it’s worth it. You don’t need to be tearing down the road…in fact, it’s one of the rare times where we suggest that you don’t put your foot into it. Mellow out some and enjoy the journey. Listen to the whisper of the wind, smell the honeysuckle on the air, and as the sun drops down and the sky starts it’s regularly scheduled color show, take note of the fireflies floating along near the trees as the cooling breeze refreshes you. Click the lights on and keep on rolling just as far as you care to go. Make the drive solo, and you have as much time as you want to clear your head. Make it with a friend or two and enjoy some conversation that doesn’t involve a smartphone being whipped out. Make the drive with someone special and who knows where you’ll end up later. But get out there and drive.
