Sunday Daily Tune Up: “Monkey Business” by Skid Row (1991)

Sunday Daily Tune Up: “Monkey Business” by Skid Row (1991)

Skid Row’s first album, appropriately named “Skid Row”, featured hits like “18 and Life” and “Youth Gone Wild”. And although I loved that 1989 debut album, it was their 1991 album titled “Slave to the Grind” that made me a life long fan thanks to the hard hitting guitar and drum combos, and lyrics that sometimes made no sense, but certainly had you singing. Other favorites on the album include “Riot Act” and “Mudkicker”, but there isn’t a bad song on this album if you are any kind of metal head. I’m not sure I agree with some critics who claim their second album moved them from glam hair band to heavy metal heroes, but that’s because I think they were heavy metal from the start. Whatever.

Since today’s content theme is things you don’t usually see, I thought the title “Monkey Business” was appropriate. Plus, cranking this up on a Sunday somehow seems wrong and oh so right. I can hear the church lady now.

I still have those tape (and sadly have to use them since my CD player (in my 2000 Suburban very similar to yours) crapped out) the trusty cassette player still works fine so I’m rolling old school with my SkidRow, Metallica, Pantera and BioHazard tapes.
