Firewheel Classics, Texas’ largest Camaro restoration parts supplier, is located in Wylie Texas in a nice brick building just down the road from notable hot rod and performance companies like Sachse Rod Shop and LG Motorsports, but it wasn’t always that way. In 1997, the year that I moved to Texas, Floyd and Patti Stinson started Firewheel Classics out of their garage in Murphy. In fact, the first time I bought parts from them I called to order and asked if I could just come pick them up rather than have them shipped. Their three car garage was a mini warehouse, and Floyd was quick to show off some of his Camaro collection when I got there.

Through dedication, hard work, and a love for all things Camaro, Floyd and Patti created an online/mail order Camaro restoration parts business that has become a staple in the mid south. When they moved into their “real” building several years ago, they took on a whole new level of service. Parts from Ridetech, Detroit Speed, MSD, Holley, and others soon filled their catalog and showroom so that their customers could build a Camaro any way they wanted.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Patti and all Floyd’s family and friends. He will be missed, but we are sure that Patti will continue on with the legacy so that a little bit of Floyd will live on in all the Camaros that get put together with their parts.

ames Floyd Stinson passed away on June 22, 2012 at his home in Murphy, Texas after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.

Floyd was preceded in death by father, James Whit Stinson and step-mother, Corene Stinson. Floyd is survived by his wife, Patti Stinson; daughters, Merri Dee Jordan and husband, Scott, Mindy Lea Kirby & husband, Justin Sr.; son, Lars Whit Stinson; grandchildren, Layne Cole, Aaron Jordan, Justin Kirby Jr., and James Kirby; great grandchild, Reagan Cole; mother, Betty Green; brother, Charles Stinson; sisters, Jean Crawford, Vicki Blaylock, and Patsy Denison.

He started life on February 22, 1947 in Waxahachie and grew up in Lancaster, Texas. Floyd served in the U.S Army as SGT E-5.

Floyd was owner of Stinson Service Company until 1997, at which time he retired to follow his passion for classic muscle cars.

He and his wife, Patti, started Firewheel Classics.

He was a member of the North Pointe Church of Christ in Sachse, Texas.

Floyd will be deeply missed by his wife, children grandchildren, and all the lives he touched.
