Ignition Tests Out The Cadillac ATS-V At COTA: A 464HP V6, Manual Trans And A Coupe, This Is The Best Camaro Teaser Yet

Yes, it’s a new car road test. The Cadillac ATS-V is one of the more interesting new cars to come bolting out of the manufacturers recently, mainly because whether they intended to or not, Cadillac put BMW’s holy-grail M3 dead in it’s sights and for once, actually pulled the trigger. What does that really mean for BangShifters? Normally, BMW is a little off of our radar, but here’s the rub: the ATS-V is the closest thing we’re going to get to seeing what the sixth-generation Camaro is all about. Both cars share the Alpha platform, and it’s very likely that the twin-turbo LF4 3.6L V6 engine will make it into the Camaro, a welcome addition at 464hp and 444tq. While Chevrolet is giving us pieces of Camaro at a time, like a six-month-long striptease, the Cadillac is right here, right now, and Carlos Lago puts it through it’s paces both on the Circuit Of The Americas track and on the backroads of Texas. We’ve always liked the idea of a hot-rod Caddy, and the CTS-V proved that Cadillac is capable of wielding a sledgehammer if so needed. There’s even a two door, three-pedal version of the car, and unlike the love-it-or-hate-it wedge shape of the CTS-V Coupe, this one looks smarter and cleaner. If the chassis remains as good as it appears, and if GM doesn’t pull the typical hierarchy BS that they are known to do, the next-gen Camaro is shaping up to be an awesome piece.
