Without question, the most popular 1973-77 GM A-body variant by sales was the Oldsmobile Cutlass. The Cutlass was usually in the top 10 best-selling car lists during that time period, and in 1976 it was America’s best selling car. Combining good power, looks, and comfort and a reasonable price, the Cutlass has managed to be an American icon and it’s not abnormal to see one rolling around even today. But one this clean is something else altogether, and it’s making us drool. We love finding cars that look like they time-traveled from the dealership lot to now, and when was the last time you saw a Cutlass this nice? We bet it’s been a while.
It’s not a fire-breather, but the Oldsmobile Rocket 350 will do plenty of work as it is, and building the motor would be a straightforward venture. Inside, the blue bucket/console interior is flawless, and of everything present, the Oldsmobile floor shifter is the highlight. It’s easily one of, if not GM’s best shifter with a very solid feel that the Camaro/Pontiac style and the factory ratchet shifter just didn’t offer. We’d like to see the four-spoke Oldsmobile sport wheel instead of the standard one, though.
The happiest news of all is that this car comes in under the Rough Start budget at $4500. It’s from the Phoenix area, so rust isn’t a concern. Another beauty that we’d love to get our hands on…can we find more?
Craigslist Listing: 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass
Nice car. Id buy it.
I have fond memories of my parents brown ’75 Cutlass. It was affectionately known as “the brown turd”.
Hmmm, I have a ’69 vintage Olds 455 4-Barrel sitting out back. If I had the money and were closer, that’d be very tempting
Does that one have swivel seats? Doesn’t appear so by the seat type, but one of my buddies back in highschool had a ’74 442 (big quarter window) and it had swivel seats. It rode awesomely.
like it , been looking for a 74 Buick Regal Limited, but thei looks in good shape.
