Since we’re still on a big-body drop-top kick around here, how could I pass up this 1968 Buick Electra 225? They certainly don’t come much bigger than General Motors’ C-body, which was over eighteen feet of pure, unadulterated “long, low, and wide” Detroit at it’s zenith before convertibles became a safety liability and before big cars became a two-ton hassle instead of the boulevard cruiser that looked sleek and sexy as it slowly glided into the driveway for the first time. It wasn’t a Cadillac, but it wasn’t far behind one in status or style.
Buick might be trying to convince new car buyers lately that they are no longer for elderly drivers, but there is a reason why Buick had such a loyal clientele that stuck around like they did. It wasn’t a cut-rate Cadillac or an overstuffed Chevrolet in the 1960s…Buick had their own way with style and their powertrains, which favored torque over horsepower and had twist by the ton, enough to make even a “deuce and a quarter” a burnout machine if one was so inclined. This one isn’t show-ready perfect, but the paint looks good, the 430ci V8 is road-trip ready, and the top was replaced fairly recently. There’s a spot of worn carpet and the air-conditioning isn’t charged…but let’s face facts right now: if non-operational air conditioning is a deal-breaker when it comes to buying a convertible, do yourself a favor and quit shopping for convertibles. The roof comes down…why bother with A/C when you can let the wind work for you instead?

Did you coordinate with Lohnes to get two of these in the pipeline one after the other, or was that just a coincidence?
They do look like pretty good cruisers though.
All the attention to 68 Buick fullsize rags at Bangshift, has made collectors now scouring craigslist and the midwest states for these land yachts..;)
Great car,my uncle had a 4 door hardtop when I was a little kid. It was like driving a living room. Buicks ad campaign is stupid, they had great cars for years and years. Maybe if GM gave them the Camaro/ATS chassis to work with instead of that Chinese/European junk they are using now we would see more from them. New Lacrosse is sharp though. 50 grand, not so much.
